ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Namibia Safari!

Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa's finest and most important Game Reserves. Etosha Game park was declared a National Park in 1907 and covering an area of 55,000 square acres, it is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. Etosha National Park is largely flat with vast grasslands surrounding its famous Etosha Pan. The bush is scanty and the animals that call this area home have adapted to these arid conditions. Most of the year, they have to rely on the numerous waterholes (some natural, some man-made) that are dotted throughout this vast reserve.

Believed to have originated over 12 million years ago as a shallow lake, Etosha is said to have the tallest Elephants in Africa, (up to 12 feet the shoulder), Etosha is recognized as being one of the last wild sanctuaries of the endangered Black Rhino.

A San (Bushman) legend about the formation of the Etosha Pan tells of how a village was raided and everyone but the women slaughtered. One woman was so upset about the death of her family she cried until her tears formed a massive lake. When the lake dried up nothing was left apart from a huge white pan.

Etosha is undoubtedly the feather in Namibia’s safari cap. It’s a unique and dramatic destination that may spoil you for life with its fascinating smorgasbord of wildlife – and its unique way of viewing them.

The game viewing in Etosha National Park is excellent! Etosha hosts a vast array of animals, including the Big Five, as well as giraffes, and rare and unusual species like the black-faced impala, Hartmann’s mountain zebra or the smallest antelope in the world, the Damara dik-dik. More fortunate visitors will see leopard and cheetah. A series of waterholes along the southern edge of the pan guarantee rewarding and often spectacular viewing! Home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. The grassy plains around a huge salt pan, becomes a beautiful lake after heavy rains and attracts large flocks of pink candy-floss colored flamingo.

Etosha Park Camp

3 Nights

The main attraction is undoubtedly the camp's proximity to the pan - the with its shimmering mirages during the hot days; dramatic sunset and sunrise textures and colors; sense of isolation and space; clear night skies - you'll be experiencing Africa in all its glory!
Located on the rim of the Etosha Pan on a secluded peninsula, the camp offers is a low impact, environmentally friendly establishment which is is entirely out of view of current tourist routes, and all other developments in the area.
Since the lodge offers only 15 units with 30 beds in total, it guarantees a genuinely personal and exclusive experience.
All rooms are built on elevated wooden decks, with thatched roofs, insulated canvas walls and large, wooden-framed retractable doors allowing spectacular panoramic views. Each chalet has two ¾ beds, except in the honeymoon chalet where a king-size bed will be provided.

The camp offers superb views of the Etosha pan which has shimmering mirages during hot days. During the wet months, birding is excellent from the comfort of your chalet or the entertainment area. Sunsets and sunrises are magnificent over the pan with dramatic colors and vistas. A restaurant, bar area and an infinity pool overlooking the horizon is also at your disposal.

ACTIVITIES: Stargazing! Guided morning and afternoon game drives in the Etosha Pan that covers an area of 4590 km²

Etosha Area Lodge

Big game safari days!

This tranquil and cozy lodge is set in a Tamboti-Terminalia forest next to a dry river bed.Experience the sights, sounds and smells of the African bush from the terrace of the lodge’s thatched, open-sided bar and dining area, which overlooks a waterhole.

The lodge places great emphasis on its excellent cuisine. Home and local produce provide fresh ingredients for a variety of euro-namibian meals. Many guests comment on how they have enjoyed an evening’s feast of kudu terrine, zebra steaks or roast beef at the end of their day. Incidentally, all the cattle are raised naturally. The rainy season can yield the Omajova mushrooms. This particular type of mushroom is freshly harvested from the local termite hills, also seasonally available are truffles brought from the red sand of the Kalahari in eastern Namibia. Compliment your meal with the selection of chilled South African wines and Namibian beers available.
